O Cantaloupe Café, nos Mercados de Olhão, tem o prazer de
anunciar que vai apresentar no próximo dia 8
de FEVEREIRO, Domingo as 18h30 um espetáculo com :
YesSister,
JazzSister
Four sassy vocalists found each other in a show that Peter Eldridge of the
'New York Voices' called “mature, natural and comfortable.”
The four girls met each other at the Conservatory of Amsterdam where they
learned the tricks of the trade. Weekly lessons by the professional vocal staff
of the University, and workshops led by a.o.Peter Eldridge and Kim Nazarian of
the 'New York Voices,' Deborah Brown, John Clayton, Becca Stevens, Rebecca
Martin, Kurt Elling and many others have contributed to the full sound of the group
that is solid as a rock, and which brings vulnerable as well as swinging and
surprising arrangements and compositions to the stage.
As a young band, YesSister, JazzSister reached maturity when in 2008 they
were invited to be part of an international tour with the Dutch Royal Airforce
Orchestra. The girls are frequent guests at internationally renowned jazz clubs
and festivals, and they recurrently collaborate with celebrated orchestras such
as the previously mentioned Royal Airforce Orchestra, the Dutch Royal Marine Orchestra
and the world famous Malando Orchestra. The music of YesSister, JazzSister has repeatedly
been broadcasted by national radio- and television stations.
The first album Listen To Your Sisters was released in 2011 and received
promising critiques in several leading (jazz) music journals. In 2014, the
girls went back to the studio to record their second album, in collaboration
with internationally acclaimed producer and musician Maarten Hogenhuis. Crazy
People was released in the Netherlands in December 2014.
YesSister, JazzSister writes all compositions and arrangements in order to
let both the entitative nature of close harmony vocals resonate, as well as
enabling the individual voices of the amazing vocalists to ring. Whatever the
occasion, YesSister, JazzSister never fails to have an impact on their audience.
Together with their young, hard-swinging band they form a cast-iron team. The
girls themselves say about their band:
“I get a kick everytime I hear what we are capable of when we sing together.
I learn something new everyday, and each and everyone in the band inspires me
continuously.”
“We do not only enjoy singing together, we've become great friends as
well!”
“Because we sing our own arrangements, we get a chance to have our own
input and listen at the same time. This is a proces in which honesty and
sincerity are key elements, and we are constantly striving for a super sound.”
“We have so much
fun together! We play in such diverse situations
that our group always forms a core on which we can trust. It's ever a dull
moment with these girls!”
